Volunteering in Africa with Projects Abroad
As a volunteer with Projects Abroad, you will have the opportunity to explore the vibrant continent of Africa. Whether you want to volunteer in Africa during your gap year, career break or during your university course, Projects Abroad has a programme to suit your interests. Volunteering in Africa will provide you with a fantastic platform from which to learn about this fascinating continent and its people.
While you do volunteer work in Africa, you will also have free time, giving you the opportunity to travel and tour other cities. Whether hiking in the Atlas Mountains of North Africa or relaxing on the beaches in South Africa, we can guarantee that you will not be bored!
Volunteer Projects in Africa
Volunteer opportunities with Projects Abroad are available in nine countries throughout Africa. Amongst the many options you could choose from teaching English to school children in Ethiopia or Morocco, joining a Care project in Ghana or Senegal, working on a human rights project in South Africa or Togo, helping to protect threatened animals on a conservation project in Madagascar or Kenya or immerse yourself in the local culture in Tanzania.
In the world’s second-largest and second most-populated continent, you are bound to find a region and project to suit your interests!
Why volunteer in Africa?
No matter which destination or project you chose in which to volunteer in Africa, you will have an important role to play and your efforts will be greatly appreciated. School children will benefit from the knowledge you impart, your conservation efforts will contribute towards protecting local wildlife, and you will be part of preserving some of the extraordinary ways of life in this unique continent.
The experience continues from your work to your living accommodation. Most volunteers on a placement with Projects Abroad in Africa have the opportunity to live with a host family. You will find them incredibly welcoming and they will doubtless be eager to find out all about you and your life back home. Take plenty of photos of your family with you and be prepared for lots of questions!
Volunteering in Africa will provide you with a fantastic platform from which to learn about this fascinating continent and its people. Don’t just take our word though! Take some time to read through stories written by our former volunteers in Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Morocco, Senegal, South Africa, Tanzania and Togo.
