Learn Cebuano in the Philippines

Local Filipinos perform traditional songs and dances at the Sinulog festival in the Philippines

Projects Abroad gives volunteers the opportunity to gain a unique insight into the fascinating Filipino culture by taking part in a Cebuano Language Course. Cebuano (also referred to as Binisaya) is spoken by 20 million people in the Philippines mostly in the Central Visayas region, which includes Cebu Province. It is the most widely spoken of the languages within the so-named Bisayan subgroup and is closely related to other Filipino languages.

Your lessons will be taught by a qualified local language teacher and are tailored to your personal level. These lessons can also be adapted to your interests. Living with a host family will also give you ample opportunity to practise your new skills and learn more about the local culture.

There are two options when it comes to learning Cebuano in the Philippines. You can choose to join an intensive standalone Language Course, where you will receive around 15 hours of tuition per week.

After completing your Cebuano Language Course, you can also choose to spend time working on one of our Philippines volunteer projects, such as Teaching or Care, and put your newly acquired language skills to use in a practical working environment.

Alternatively, you can choose to sign up for our 5-hour, 14-hour, or 30-hour Language Course add-ons, which run alongside your main volunteer project. These prices are in addition to your main project price. Please take a look at our Philippines language prices for more information.
