Learn French in Togo

Female Projects Abroad volunteer learning French on a Language Course in Togo

Although Togo gained independence from France in 1960, French still remains the official language of this West African nation. Numerous tribal languages are spoken throughout the country, with Ewe being the main language used in Lomé alongside French.

French will be your main language of communication with the Togolese people. As a result, having some basic knowledge of French is essential.

There are two options when it comes to learning French in Togo. You can choose to sign up for a standalone intensive Language Course, where you will receive 15 hours of one-to-one tuition per week with a qualified teacher. Each class will be tailored to your ability. After your class is over for the day, you will have plenty of time to practice your French conversation skills with your local host family.

After completing your French Language Course, you can also choose to spend time working on one of our Togo volunteer projects, such as Teaching or Care, and put your newly acquired language skills to use in a practical working environment.

The other option is to study French alongside your regular volunteer placement. We offer 5-hour, 14-hour, or 30-hour French language add-on courses. These prices are in addition to your main project price. Please take a look at our Togo language prices for more information.

Depending on your skills and when you travel with us, you may have your classes alone with the teacher or be in a small group with two or three others.
