If you are interested in combining a week working with children with a week working with pandas in the rapidly changing country of China, then this project is ideal for you.
During one of your weeks you will have the unique opportunity to work with the world’s most recognisable endangered species at the Dujiangyan Panda Base. You will be involved in preparing food for pandas, cleaning out enclosures and observing panda behaviour.
During your other week on this programme you will work at a care centre in Chengdu, one of China’s thriving cities, and help the local staff by playing games with the children and helping them with basic education. As a volunteer you will be adding to the children’s quality of life, not only through the development of their social skills, but also by exposing them to new cultures and ideas.
While working at the panda project you will stay in a guest house. During your week working at the Care project, you will stay in a shared volunteer apartment or at a local guest house.
Over the weekend you will get the opportunity to visit the Du Jiang Yan water project, the Leshan Giant Buddha or spend a day exploring more of the city sites that Chengdu has to offer.
Every year, thousands of High School Special volunteers actively make a difference around the world. During their time abroad, they contribute towards achieving long-term goals and make a long-lasting positive impact on the communities where they work.
